FIELD OF INTEREST FUNDS

The Values and Causes of Donors Live on in Perpetuity

You can target your gift to address a need in an important area of community life such as the arts, homelessness, elderly, at-risk youth. You identify your personal area of interest when making your gift. Our board awards grants to community agencies and programs that are making a difference in the area you select. Field of Interest Funds can also be established through a restricted bequest to the Pasadena Community Foundation.

The Nancy Nash Beckham Fund For Hunger
Beckham

Nancy Nash Beckham was proud to be known as the “cookie lady” for 12 years at All Saints Church in Pasadena.  Beginning in1992, she and her daughter Barbara Beckham took over leadership of the Hunger Ministry at the Church which generates funds through the offering of baked goods for donations every Sunday.  This ministry continues to distribute funds to benefit those in great need in Pasadena.

When Nancy Beckham passed away in March of 2007, Barbara and her sister, Patti Healy wanted to do something to pay tribute to their mother.  It seemed logical to further her legacy of a ministry to the hungry.  So, they set up a fund at the Pasadena Community Foundation named the Nancy Nash Beckham Fund for Hunger.  The fund will make grants to non-profit organizations in the Pasadena area that provide food and shelter programs to the hungry and homeless or to those rebuilding their lives.

Barbara has also ensured that the fund will grow by leaving a portion of her own estate to the fund by bequest.

Together the sisters have a sense of purpose in honoring their mother’s generosity, a value passed on to them by her example.

The Eaton Fund for Assistance to the Elderly
Cornelia Eaton was committed to helping seniors in the San Gabriel Valley. Upon her death in 1994, the Cornelia L. Eaton Fund for Assistance to the Elderly was created at the Pasadena Community Foundation. The Foundation has honored the spirit of the Eaton Trust which is to “support organizations that render assistance to or whose operations are primarily for the benefit of elderly persons.” Over time and through prudent investment, the Cornelia L. Eaton Fund has increased in value and has made awards of over $500,000 to organizations working to improve the lives of seniors.  Among its beneficiaries are Ability First’s Sierra Rose home for disabled seniors, The Convalescent Aid Society, Meals on Wheels and the Pasadena Senior Center.

OBA, Inc. The Norrington Youth Fund
The Ralph & Margaret Norrington Youth Fund supports charities serving youth in the City of Pasadena. Like most bequests whose original donors are no longer living, the Norrington Youth Fund continues to support the causes and values of its donors. Monies from the fund, averaging around $3,500 per year, have benefited the work of organizations such as the YWCA and The Boys & Girls Club.
