SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS

Through the Pasadena Community Foundation, scholarship funds are easy to establish. They reflect the donor’s interest in supporting the aspirations and capabilities of others to accomplish worthwhile scientific, athletic, artistic or other goals. Scholarships such as the Fulbright or Rhodes Scholarships are examples of how these funds continue to honor their donors. The accomplishments of scholarship recipients serve as a tribute to the wisdom and commitment of the original donor.

Pasadena Deltas Establish Permanent Scholarship Fund at Pasadena Community Foundation

At the 2005 Annual Meeting of the Pasadena Delta Foundation, Inc (PDF), the PDF presented a check for $125,000.00 to the Pasadena Community Foundation (PCF) to begin a permanent Academic Award Fund to support the ten annual Commemorative scholarships given annually by the Pasadena Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. The chapter has given over $300,000.00 to deserving Pasadena graduates. John Singleton, award winning film producer and John Kennedy, successful developer, are among the awardees.

The Delta Academic Award Endowment Fund at PCF is now the main funding source for their local scholarships.

Fritz Huber Memorial Scholarship Fund

Long-time South Pasadena resident Frederick “Fritz” Huber passed away from heart disease in June. To honor Huber’s memory, his family has established a scholarship fund at South Pasadena High School, the high school from which he and his children Jeffrey and Jennifer Huber graduated.

Via the memorial fund, each year Huber’s family members will award a college scholarship to a senior who they believe most embodies Huber’s spirit and personal attributes including kindness, generosity, service and integrity.

Sina Massoumi Memorial Scholarship Fund

When a teenage student from South Pasadena was killed in a tragic automobile accident, his parents joined with his employer in honoring him by establishing the Sina Massoumi Memorial Scholarship fund.

Awarded each year to a South Pasadena High School student who exemplifies Sina's love of music and sports, the scholarship keeps alive the values and memory of an outstanding young scholar, athlete, and musician.
