MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND ESTABLISHED AT PCF IN MEMORY OF FRITZ HUBER

SOUTH PASADENA, Calif. – Long-time South Pasadena resident Frederick “Fritz” Huber passed away from heart disease in June. To honor Huber’s memory, his family has established a scholarship fund at South Pasadena High School, the high school from which he and his children Jeffrey and Jennifer Huber graduated.

Via the memorial fund, each year Huber’s family members will award a college scholarship to a senior who they believe most embodies Huber’s spirit and personal attributes.

Huber lived in South Pasadena from age nine through age 36, when he moved to Pasadena. He spent 11 years in Pasadena, before moving to Simi Valley in 2000. Huber graduated from California State University, Long Beach, where he received his bachelor’s degree in radio and television.

Shortly after graduation, he joined First Interstate Bank, where his father had worked for many years prior to him. Huber worked for First Interstate until 1996, when the company was acquired by Wells Fargo. At that point, he joined WellPoint, the parent company of Blue Cross of California and numerous other health care companies across the United States. At WellPoint, Huber served as manager of graphic presentations, working with executives throughout the company to produce presentations for meetings of the board of directors and other key gatherings.

Among Huber’s many service-oriented activities was serving as a soccer coach for his children for many years in South Pasadena and Pasadena, as well as serving on the board of directors of the local American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) region. Following Huber’s death, his family established the Fritz Huber Soccer Scholarship Endowment Fund through PCF. Thanks to the significant financial contributions, the fund will be a permanent source of financial assistance to send children to soccer camps, out-of-state tournaments and other activities their parents could not otherwise afford.
