Pasadena Community Foundation 2006 Grants exceed $7.6 Million
Few organizations in Pasadena give away millions each year to non-profit agencies. One that does is the Pasadena Community Foundation which in 2006 alone grantedapproximately $7.6 million to non-profit agencies addressing such issues as hunger, housing, and health care, to name just a few.
Locally, discretionary grants of $750,000 went to 45 agencies in the greater Pasadena area.. The rest were directed to organizationsboth locally and throughout the U.S. by donors or groups who have established charitablefunds at the Pasadena Community Foundation for specific purposes such as scholarships.
Most of the over $24 million in assets of the Pasadena Community Foundation are pooled in a professionally managed portfolio of stocks and bonds with oversight by the Board’s Finance Committee. In 2006, the Foundation portfolio garnered an 18 % investment return, “a highly respectable performance,” says Foundation Executive Director, Jennifer DeVoll.
Grant guidelines and applications for 2007 grants can be obtained by visiting the Foundation’s website at www.pasadenacf.org. Click on Grant Seeking. Completed proposals are due at the Foundation offices by 2:00 p.m., March 1st.
